Sacred Crocodile Pond
Touch one of the modern world's last remaining links to the dinosaur when you visit Ghana's Sacred Crocodile Pond. Located in the northern town of Paga, the landlocked pond is a tribute to the legend of a young man named Neveh, who was saved by a crocodile while on a hunting expedition. In one way or another there must be some grain of truth to the story as the crocs in the pond are quite docile, even though many are quite large. Villagers wash their clothes next to the crocs without a hint of fear. Many tourists feed them or sit on their tails, though we recommend that you be cautious when you do so!
