Although Lesotho's Maletsunyane Falls may not be as well known as Zambia's more famous Victoria Falls, it is mighty in its own right and just as impressive. This waterfall is one of the highest dropping waterfalls in Africa, plunging nearly 200 meters (600 ft) into a swimmable pool with gorgeous, unspoiled natural scenery. In the winter, when the water freezes, rock spray forms a dazzling ice cage over the pool itself. The falls are easily accessible from nearby Semonkong, an hour's walk along the Maletsunyane River, which feeds the whole valley with lush greenery. So, take the road less traveled and visit this breathtaking natural wonder. You'll be glad that you did!
