Sapo National Park
Liberia's Sapo National Park is a rainforest that contains a treasure trove of precious and endangered species of flora and fauna. The forest canopy reaches well into the sky, with trees that can grow to a height of 70 meters (230 ft). The list of animals is diverse, and includes the African forest elephant, Duiker antelopes, jentiks, red, white, and black colubus monkeys and, perhaps its most precious resident, the endangered pygmy hippopotamus. Although the park is a bit off the "beaten track", and there are not many amenities around; if you provision properly for a visit to Sapo, it can be a grand adventure!
