Blink your eyes a few times to make sure they're not playing tricks on you when you first catch a glimpse of Senegal's Lake Retba. The lake can only be described as a natural oddity as it is literally pink in color, due to the presence of a certain type of cyanobacteria. This color is especially prevalent during the dry season, when the lake's high salt content is concentrated even further with the lack of rainfall. You can take a dip in the therapeutic waters and almost feel your aches and pains being leached away and everything seems just that little bit better. It'll make you wonder if the person who first uttered the phrase "through rose-colored glasses" may have paid a visit to Lake Retba? Hmm...
