Malawi Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 46%, Malawi is located almost right in the middle of the continent and unfortunately gets missed by many drawn to Africa by its other more famous attractions. But for those who make the journey into the interior, this little gem is guaranteed to provide a range of travel experiences that will fill up an entire journal. At the top of this list is the magnificent Lake Malawi, which in reality is more like an inland sea than your standard run-of-the-mill water body. It is the epicenter of Malawi's tourist attractions. The experiences to be had here are extensive, from fishing, to body surfing the ocean-like waves stirred up by the African winds, to exploring the diverse islands of Mumbo and Domwe, which can only be described as little slices of paradise. One of the best ways to experience the lake is with a visit to the Lake of the Stars Festival - an annual 4-day music festival that draws acts from across the globe. Malawi is also fortunate to have several national parks and game reserves that have a wide variety of wildlife and are relatively uncrowded like the Lilongwe Nature Sanctuary and Wildlife Center. Perhaps most important of all is that the country has remained peaceful for many, many years, in contrast to a number of other African countries. With so much to offer, Malawi should not be overlooked.
