Réunion Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 46%, Réunion represents the outermost region of the European Union and, as a territory of France, is actually more in line politically with Europe than Africa. However, considering the fact that it lies only a few hundred kilometers east of the African continent in the Indian Ocean, this probably isn't too much of a surprise. So, what is it that this small, isolated island has to offer? At the top of the list would be Piton de la Fournaise, one of the most active volcanoes in the entire world, with molten lava that spews out regularly and flows directly into the ocean. It is perhaps an even more scenic site than the more famous Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii. Most of Réunion's west coast is also bordered by coral reefs, which has led to the entire island being designated as a national park. There is a good possibility that UNESCO may add it to the list of World Heritage sites. Who ever uttered the phrase "big things come in small packages" must have definitely paid Réunion a visit.
