Rwanda Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 40%, Rwanda has gone through more heartache over the past generation than perhaps any other country on the face of the globe. The genocide of the mid-1990's nearly tore the country's soul apart. This pain has been placed in vivid relief for all to see at the Kingali Genocide Memorial Centre. But don't make the mistake of thinking that the crimes of the past are the only thing that defines the modern Rwanda of today. There is much more to this amazing Central African country than most would probably realize. At the top of the list is the Parc National des Volcans, one of only a handful of nature reserves where the critically endangered mountain gorillas can be found in their natural habitat. Rwanda's attractions continue with Akagera National Park, where you will find the greatest concentration of hippos in all of Africa, and the Nyungwe Forest, where you can go on a chimp spotting safari through one of the largest tracts of mountain forests in all of Africa. So as you can see, there is much more to Rwanda than the headlines would lead you to believe. Visit this country and verify for yourself; you may just be surprised by all that you see.
