Swaziland Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 44%, Swaziland is quite small in size – compared to most African countries - but anyone who visits will instantly recognize how different the place is from the rest of the continent. What sets it apart is that it is one of the last remaining monarchies in all of Africa, giving the place an almost fairytale kingdom feel. The King is the absolute ruler; but unlike most dictators, most of the people seem to have an overwhelming pride in both their leader and the entire country as a whole. You can even spend a few days trying to spot one of the "royals" with a visit to the Ezulwini Valley, the place from which they have administered the country for generations. You can then take a detour to Mkhaya Game Reserve, one of the best places in Southern Africa to spot the black rhino. But perhaps the best experience to be had in Swaziland is to time your visit with the annual Incwala Festival, where the locals celebrate the beginning of the harvest season and give you a clear impression of how much they really love their homeland. Refreshing, to say the least!
