Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary
While away the hours watching the playful antics of the giant pandas at China's Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary, which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This combination of seven nature reserves and nine scenic parks provides a home for 30% of all remaining endangered giant pandas. Anyone who visits will immediately be struck by the amazing diversity of the rainforest. It's home to not only the giant pandas, but also to a variety of other endangered species, ranging from the red panda, to the snow leopard, to the golden monkey and offers perhaps the only chance you will have to see these special animals in their natural habitat. Recommended destinations within the Sanctuary would include Wolong National Nature Reserve and Mt. Qingcheng-Dujiangyan Scenic Park. Perhaps the most accessible route to the area is by train. Chances are you won't be able to hug a panda; but their gameplay is sure to bring a smile to your face!
