Cristo Rei of Dili
You do not have to be a "true believer" to revere the majesty of Cristo Rei of Dili (Christ the King of Dili), a huge statue of Jesus Christ that rises nearly 30 meters (~100 ft) into the sky on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Bay of Dili in East Timor. Perched on top of a large metal globe of the world, Criso Rei is the second tallest statue of Jesus, exceeded only by Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Putting its war torn past behind, the statue is a major tourist draw for this small nation. The site is easily accessible by bus or taxi. PlanetHoppers! need to climb a long flight of stairs to reach the foot of the statue. While you many not worship Cristo Rei, you are sure to admire him and the gorgeous views all around.
