Holi Festival of Color
Grasp for all the colors of the rainbow as you walk the streets during India's Holi Festival of Color, which is celebrated throughout the country and by expatriates around the world. Hindus greet the start of spring with a splash of color - and in some cases geysers of it. During this annual festival, the streets of India are literally awash with color, as the locals pelt each other with dyes or balloons filled with colored water. People put their cares away, and a sense of general camaraderie and mischief reign. As you can well imagine, any PlanetHopper! who find themselves in the firing line are particularly attractive targets. But don't worry, it's all in good fun and, by the end of the day, you'll hardly recognize yourself through the many layers of color. This is one of those experiences that absolutely needs to be captured on film, so bring along the camera – and don't forget to duck!
