Chitwan National Park
Climb aboard an elephant's back to explore Nepal's Chitwan National Park and enjoy one of the most unique wildlife safaris to be found anywhere in the world. As the first formally recognized park in Nepal, this area was a former hunting reserve for the country's elite. Today the park is now fully protected and provides visitors with the opportunity to view a variety of animals that most of us would tend to associate with Africa, such as the rhinoceros, leopard and crocodile. One animal that you definitely won't see in Africa - but may spot at Chitwan - is the elusive Bengal tiger. The park contains a treasure trove of natural wonders and a diversity of ecosystems, with hills, lakes, rivers and flood plains. You can tour it by foot, jeep or boat, but perhaps the most fantastic views can be had from the back of an elephant!
