Everest Base Camp Trek
Learn the true meaning of "the slow road" as you hit the trail on the Everest Base Camp Trek. Along the way, you'll travel side-by-side with the local Sherpas as they escort a never ending stream of climbers determined to scale the tallest mountain in the world at 8,840 meters (29,002 ft). While the cost and extreme difficulty alone makes climbing Everest out question for most of us, it is possible to climb Kala Pattar, a rise overlooking the base camp, that provides a 360° view of Mt Everest and the rest of the Himalayan Mountain range. The best times to try this trek are from the beginning of March to mid-May, and from the beginning of September to mid-November. It's about as close as you can get to the top of the world without actually climbing Mt. Everest itself. It's also a good way to test both your mental, as well as physical stamina and is quite a feather for any PlanetHopper's hat!
