Stare up in admiration at Taipei 101, which at 508 meters (1,667 ft) is one of the tallest buildings in the world. The glass and steel structure has distinct Asian influences. While many say it resembles Chinese food takeout boxes stacked on top of each other, the designers pictured a huge bamboo shoot rising up into the sky. The lucky number eight, which connotes success to the Chinese, is represented by the eight clearly delineated exterior sections of the building. One unique feature about the building is the 800 metric ton damper on the top of the tower which helps to stabilize it against high winds. The double-decker elevators are super quick and whiz you up to an indoor observation deck on the 89th floor. Go up two flights of stairs to the outdoor observatory on the 91st floor to see the spectacular 360° views, which are guaranteed to take your breath away!
