War Remnants Museum
Keep an open mind as you tour through Vietnam's War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City. The museum focuses primarily on the period of the Vietnam War in which the American military played a primary role. While the Americans aren't exactly cast in a favorable light – the museum was formerly called the House for Displaying War Crimes of American Imperialism and the Puppet Government – it does contain a fairly comprehensive collection of military paraphernalia. There are many sections to the museum that include maps, photos, weapons and ordnance collections. Outside, there is a large collection of vehicles and aircraft, including helicopters, tanks, military vehicles, and artillery. All of it may be confronting and definitely anti-American, but it offers a unique perspective to a very controversial war that has been immortalized in the psyche of many people to this day.
