Cambodia Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 46%, Cambodia has set itself as a clear example for countries that have suffered through the darkest of days, that there is indeed hope for a bright future. Many who survived through the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge regime probably would have never believed that only a generation later their country would become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. But then when you have one of the most amazing ancient ruins in the entire world, these things tend to happen. We're, of course, talking about the incomparable Angkor Wat, a complex of temples once lost to the jungle and now the most enduring and famous symbols of Cambodia. This place is an absolute must for any PlanetHopper! Most who come to this amazing land will also inevitably feel the irresistible pull to pay their respects to the victims of the past. The best place to do this is at the now eerily tranquil Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, part of the infamous Killing Fields, where thousands were systematically tortured and killed by the Khmer Rouge. In many ways Cambodia represents the best and worst in humanity. It's a place that will make you understand how important it is to never let the past be forgotten and that there is always hope for better days.
