Tajikistan Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 34%, Tajikistan is a land dominated by the Pamir Mountain Range, which covers much of the country. As you can imagine, this means that a lot of activities revolve around the outdoors, like rock climbing, mountain biking and - for those who are up to the challenge - mountain climbing. But you don't necessarily have to be an adrenaline junkie to have a pleasant time here, as Tajikistan hosts one of the world's classic journeys in the form of the Pamir Highway. This road once formed a section of the Silk Road and today provides one of the most stunning mountain drives imaginable. But Tajikistan is also a center for the arts, with the focal point the capital of Dushanbe. Take in a performance at the Ayni Opera & Ballet Theatre, or visit the National Museum of Antiquities, where the unique history of this country will spring to life in vivid relief. Also visit the Somoni Monument at the center of the city and the museum directly below it, and the Presidential Palace in Rudaki Prospect. Then do a bit of shopping and pick up some local handicrafts at Barakat Market. Overall, Tajikistan is like an oyster - something that might not appeal to everyone, but if you give it a chance, you might just find a few precious pearls to visit.
