Push the limits of your endurance with a climb to the summit of The Pitons of Saint Lucia, twin dormant volcanoes that spring from the warm waters of the Caribbean to an elevation of nearly 800 meters (~ 2600 ft). Covered in lush green vegetation, the two peaks - Gros Piton and Petit Piton – are perhaps the most famous landmarks in the entire Caribbean. Among the pair, only Gros Piton is legally allowed to be climbed, as Petit Piton is simply too steep. It may be an understatement when we say this is one grueling trek. The climb will take several hours - depending on your physical condition - and will provide you with some fantastic views across Piton Bay. After you've "summited", make your way back to the forested high ground of Piton Mitan between the twin peaks. Here you'll find the Ladera Hotel, where you can raise a toast with the local brew (named Pitons, of course) to celebrate your achievement!
