Cayman Islands Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 50%, to some the Cayman Islands immediately bring to mind a dodgy tax haven, where unscrupulous businessmen hide away their fortunes. But don't believe it - this is more an image created by Hollywood and has very little basis in reality. The fact of the matter is that there is a lot of money here, 99.9% of which is legitimate. (We'll ignore the other .1% for now.) More importantly, the place absolutely rocks as a fantastic travel destination. Take for instance the long list of prime underwater dive locations that include Stingray City and Shark Alley, where you can have a true close encounter with some of the "big boys" of the ocean. While you're down under, take a tour of Bloody Bay Wall, or the Kittiwake Shipwreck & Artificial Reef, magnets for snorkelers and divers alike. Top notch beaches include Seven Mile Beach, Smith Cove, and the idyllic and uncrowded Rum Point. Alternatively, if you're looking for something a little more active, a trek along Cayman Brac's limestone "Bluff" or the Mastic Trail are perfect opportunities to stretch out your muscles and see several of the island's various ecosystems. Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park is home to unique orchids, iguanas, and various tropical birds. Not to be missed on any account is the Cayman Islands Brewery, which employs ancient brewing techniques with modern technology to create some fantastic beers. With so much to offer, the Caymans clearly outshine their storied reputation. It's about time that PlanetHoppers! spread the word...
