Grenada Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 48%, Grenada is often overlooked as a viable Caribbean travel destination. Its near-destruction at the hands of Hurricane Ivan in 2004 has left this small grouping of islands under a stigma. Unfortunately, this has kept Grenada about as far from the limelight as any country in the entire region, which ironically provides every PlanetHopper! who visits a rare opportunity to fully experience the hidden wonders of this little Caribbean pearl. Although the term "pristine" may be overused for Caribbean beaches, Granada's white sands of Grand Anse and the aptly-named Sandy Island are truly pristine and just waiting for more visitors. The thick rainforests of the interior comprise Grand Etang National Park and contains a variety of trails that will take you through mountains and forests. Within its confines is Seven Sisters Falls, which tumbles down a mountainside into a pool surrounded by a landscape that hasn't changed - or been impacted by humans - since pretty much the dawn of time. Trumping all of these wonders is the spectacular Carriacou Island, the perfect retreat where everyone is friendly, festivals abound, and the beaches are simply glorious. Without a doubt, Grenada is the Caribbean gem that is waiting to be rediscovered.
