St. Lucia Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 50%, St. Lucia is easily one of the most physically impressive of all the Caribbean islands with the massive peaks of the Pitons towering over this little paradise. They in fact define this place. While the lure to climb these monoliths may be overpowering, only the taller of the two - Gros Piton can be climbed - as its counterpart Petit Piton is simply too steep. If you can manage to hike through lush rainforest to the 700 m (~2300 ft) peak, you will be rewarded with jaw-dropping views. But, don't fear, if too much exertion isn't on the holiday agenda, you can simply drive to Sulphur Springs and enjoy a mud bath, or have pleasant picnic in Pigeon Island National Park. Morne Coubaril Estate is a restored plantation which offers a peak into the local history and has a zipline that gives you breathtaking views of the Pitons. Tet Paul Nature Trail offers guide tours through lush jungles and more excellent views of the Pitons. In recent years the island has gained something of a name as a favorite honeymoon spot; but there are ample things to see for solitary PlanetHoppers! too. Beaches like Reduit Beach and dive spots such as Anse Chastanet are just a few of the many options that will satisfy most. And looming over everything will be those spectacular Pitons!
