Hike to top of Volcán Barú the highest peak in Panama at an altitude of 3,774 meters (12,381 ft) above sea level. On a clear day, you can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans from this dormant volcano. The area surrounding the volcano is part of Volcán Barú National Park and is composed mostly of mountain rain forest. Perhaps the most unique feature about the region is that you will encounter 6 different climate zones! A guide is recommended to climb the volcano, even for experienced PlanetHoppers! The nearby town of Boquete – tucked into the highlands of Panama – is under an hour away and the best launching point. So, if you want to brag about seeing two different oceans at the same time, this is the destination to visit.
