Oceania is a sun-drenched nirvana surrounded by turquoise waters, with literally thousands of islands and atolls scattered about the vast Pacific. The word "paradise" is often attributed to many of the islands in this part of the world, and it's not unfounded. French Polynesia, Fiji, Guam, and Palau are just the tip of the "sun"berg. The wonders of nature are on full display here; soaring mountain peaks, lush jungle forests, pristine sand beach; and seas teeming with coral and marine life. It is also an area rich in culture, with Melanesian, Maori, and Polynesian traditions cherished and practiced on many of the islands. Standout destinations in Oceania include Bora Bora, the Kokoda Trail, Tarawa, Guadalcanal, the Isle of Pines, and the death-defying land divers of Pentecost Island. A nice balance to all of the "sun", are the large islands of New Zealand and Australia, which are premiere destinations. The range of options among these two great nations is innumerable and includes the Milford Sound, Ayers Rock, Kaikoura, the Twelve Apostles, and the stupendous Great Barrier Reef. Make your way to Oceania and lose yourself; you'll find every excuse that you can to stay longer.
