Imagine what it must have been like to step off the boat onto France's Omaha Beach in Normandy on that fateful morning in 1944 that will forever be known as D-day. Most have an image of the invasion directly from Spielberg's epic movie, Saving Private Ryan. While the silver screen may have captured the day for today's generations, these shores have been a pilgrimage for many of the older generation for over 60 years. It was on this beach that the tide of the war and the very history of the world was changed forever. It is a place as haunting as it is majestic and, if you are lucky enough to be there during on the memorial dawn services, you will go away feeling truly blessed for the experience.
