United Arab Emirates Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 46%, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - a federation of seven emirates – is rushing headlong into prosperity from natural resources, and Dubai as a growing financial hub. A generation ago, the UAE was comprised primarily of a population of nomadic tribesman who roamed the desert as they had for thousands of years. Then they discovered oil - and everything virtually changed overnight. Today, the UAE is amongst the richest in the region - if not the world - and has transformed itself into a model for Middle Eastern states. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are the most recognizable states and definitely worth visiting. As you arrive in Dubai, your jaw may hit the floor. The entire place is simply bigger than life, from the tallest building in the world - the Burj Khalifa - which reaches some 828 m (2,717 ft) in to the air, to the luxurious Burj al Arab hotel - one of the few 7 star hotels in the world. But travel beyond to the other emirates - Ajman, Al Ain, Fujairah, Hatta, Khor Fakkan, Sharajah – if you can for more budget friendly destinations and see a Camel Souq, Jebel Hafeet, Al Hisn Fort, or some remote villages, which may be just as fascinating in their own right.
