Cave of the Crystals
Descend into the utter darkness of Mexico's Cave of the Crystals and lose yourself in one of the most uncommon subterranean experiences on the planet. As the result of a series of unique geological conditions, enormous crystals have formed - some reaching to over 10 meters (33 ft) in length. However, if you're planning a visit, there are a few things to be aware of. The first is that the complex lies over an underground magma deposit that keeps the cave at a steamy 58° C (136° F), reducing tours to no more than 10 minutes at a stretch. The second is that at some point in the future (currently unknown) the caves will be resealed to preserve the crystal structures. So, if you want to visit, do it quickly. The clock is ticking!
