Day of the Dead
Observe the haunting spectacle of Mexico's Day of the Dead, one of the most bizarre national holidays that you will find anywhere in the world. Taking its origins from a combination of Catholic and Aztec roots, it is a day set aside to honor the dead. However, while it may at first seem a bit morbid, in reality that's far from the case. The entire day is absorbed in a festival atmosphere, where families honor their dead through a combination of story-telling, gift-giving and processions through the street dressed in ghoulish costumes. Overall, it's a surreal experience that has seemingly sprung directly from a Tim Burton movie.
