Crater of Diamonds State Park
Search through acres of churned up soil at Arkansas' Crater of Diamonds State Park, in the hope of finding a "diamond in the rough" at the only diamond-bearing site in the world that is open to the public. Each year tourists find gems of varying sizes and the best part is that they're yours to keep! Not a bad reason to visit, especially if you consider that in 1924, one of the world's largest diamonds (~ 40 carats), named Uncle Sam, was pulled from these very soils. A useful fact that might very well help convince the wife or girlfriend to join you in the search!
