Greenland Quick Travel Guide
With a travel rating of 46%, Greenland is one of those places that most of us have heard of, but in reality don't know much about. For the uninitiated, Greenland represents just about everything we have to lose if the global warning doomsayers are even remotely close to the mark. First settled by the infamous Viking, Eric the Red, Greenland is home to some of the most pristine arctic ecosystems to be found anywhere on the planet. At the top of this list is Ilulissat Icefjord, where you can kayak through the majestic ice floes of a UNESCO-listed winter wonderland. But not to be upstaged, Greenland National Park is also an absolute must. As the largest national park in the world, it is home to the Greenland Ice Sheet which provides some of the best arctic trekking in the world. Due to its geographical location, the entire country is shrouded in darkness for several months over winter, providing the perfect chance to celebrate the sun's return with the annual Return of the Sun Festival. These first rays of light, after the long darkness, will create a memory that will last a lifetime.
