Visit Tavenui, the "Garden Island" of Fiji which is the ultimate showcase for beautiful scenery, abundant flora and fauna, unspoiled beaches and world class dive spots. The island is a massive shield volcano which rises from the floor of the Pacific Ocean to peaks that are over 1000 meters (~3,250 ft) tall; but ample rainfall has made the entire island the true definition of "lush". Lake Tagimaucia occupies a volcanic crater at an altitude of 800 meters (~2,600 ft) and is the habitat for the rare tagimaucia flower. Bouman National Heritage Park has several gorgeous falls, including Bouma Falls, as well as a number of breathtaking nature walks, such as the Rainforest Hike and Lavena Coastal Walk. Taveunie Forest Preserve and Ravilevu Nature Preserve are sanctuaries for Fiji's indigenous wildlife that include the Taveuni Beetle, Orange Dove, fruit bats, the kula parrot, and several unique species of palm. Venture out to the shore to see the impressive Matamaiqi blowhole, the jet black volanic rocks of the South Cape, or take a plunge into the water to see Taveuni's hidden treasures under the sea, like Rainbow and Vuna Reefs. The term "paradise" can never be used loosely when referring to this little, green gem in the Pacific.
