Prepare yourself for the bounty of Saipan, the largest island in the Northern Mariana Islands. The number of things to do here rival some countries. Occupied by the Japanese during WWII, Saipan today is a thriving tourist magnet. There are relics from the war all over the island and beneath the sea; including sunken wrecks in Tenpang Lagoon and Managaha Island. Any dive adventure would not be complete without a trip to the Blue Grotto, considered by many as the best cavern dive in the world. Enter the water through a large limestone hole into an underwater cavern where the sun shines through and lights up the sea brilliantly; you'll never want come back up for air. Other highlights include Mount Trapochau, the highest point on the island with 360 degree panoramic views. There are the picturesque Suicide and Banzai Cliffs where the Japanese jumped to their deaths, rather than surrender to the United State military. Get close to nature at Saipan Botanical Gardens, which is full of exotic flora and can take up an entire day. There's parasailing, wind surfing, fishing and golf. Saipan has the best beaches in Micronesia, a thrilling nightlife, fine international cuisine, loads of duty free shopping choices, and fantastic resorts. Words don't do justice to Saipan. Go there and see for yourself.
