Mata'utu
Take the road less traveled and visit Mata'utu, the capital of Wallis and Futuna. The city can be mistaken for a village and is dominated by the large and impressive Matu'utu Cathedral, which is located right next to the King's Palace, a building that is hardly ostentatious as the seat of a monarch. Other attractions include two important archaeological sites, Talietumu and Tonga Toto, which are just outside of Matu'utu. Several restaurants and hotels cater to PlanetHoppers!, though most of this "city" can be seen in a day. While Mata'utu cannot compare to some of the more popular destinations in the South Pacific, it makes up for it with charm and a pleasant, bucolic atmosphere. Sometimes good things come in small packages.
